Location: Minnetonka Community Education Center (MCEC)
Assignment: Part time, days, evenings, and weekend options for 2-10 classes per season (Spring/Summer, Fall, Winter) Several positions available
Wages: starting at $20/hour
Primary Objective of Positions: To instruct evening enrichment and/or recreation classes for adults with intellectual, developmental, sensory, cognitive and physical disabilities. To ensure a safe and fun atmosphere for all participants.
Job Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare and teach classes in art, crafts, cooking, recreation, or leisure, that are specially designed and adapted to the individual abilities of Project SOAR participants.
Develop enriching curriculum and/or programming.
Provide ongoing feedback to Program Manager about class/activity outcomes and make recommendations as necessary.
Plan and prepare supplies and materials required to successfully teach classes.
Provide a safe, caring, and fun environment for participants.
Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Job Qualifications:
Evidence of successful experience working with persons with disabilities.
Education and/or experience in special education preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge in teaching area.
Evidence of positive interpersonal skills; ability to relate well to adults with special needs.
Compassion for and understanding of adults with disabilities.
Evidence of successful teaching and/or program leadership.
Ability to work under minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
Proven record of punctuality and responsibility.
Ability to preplan classes for a season in advance.
